Is CU Boulder housing first come first serve? ›

Housing assignments are first come, first served.

As a first-year student with the live-on requirement, there are many campus housing options to choose from. Additionally, whether you are a prospective student looking for housing for the first time, or a current student reapplying to live in campus housing, we can help you get the information you need.

Residence Halls

All halls are coeducational and range in sizes from 100 to 700 students. Each fall the residence halls provide a new home for more than 7,000 entering first-year students.

Sewall Hall was built in 1934 as the women's dormitory for campus. Sewall has been in continuous use as a dorm ever since, making it the longest-serving purpose-built residence hall on campus.

Email platform changes

They are not able to switch their email delivery and sending settings to CU Boulder's Gmail service. Students admitted after January 19, 2023 will have email routed to Microsoft email services.

A CU System ID is the user account and password for CU System Administration users and affiliates. CU System Administration uses Active Directory for its primary account management. This account is used to access a variety of resources including the CU System portal, network, email, laptops, VPN and many other systems.

An IdentiKey is the credential that uniquely identifies you to online services and campus computing facilities so that they may grant you access.

Alcohol & Drug Policy:

We recognize that alcohol abuse and misuse is a significant impediment to achieving this excellence. Therefore, CU-Boulder permits only the responsible, legal consumption of alcohol. The university complies with all federal, state, and local laws concerning alcohol and illegal drugs.

Can you have a car on campus as a freshman at CU Boulder? ›

If you bring a car to campus, you must buy a parking permit. Parking permits will go on sale mid-July. Cost may vary depending on lot assignment. You can purchase your student parking permit for the upcoming semester and/or academic year online at the CU Boulder Parking and Transportation website.

CU Boulder has a decent Greek life presence on campus. Approximately 10-15% of the undergraduate student body is involved in fraternities and sororities at CU Boulder, which might not seem like a high percentage, but it still contributes to the social experience of many students.

Subject to the availability of space, all first-year students are required to live in a residence hall for two academic semesters (a summer term does not count as an academic semester), unless they are married or live with parents and have permission to commute.

Since admission is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, you'll want to submit your application as early as possible. Typically, community colleges, online schools and distance learning programs offer this type of enrollment.

Admissions on the basis of first come first serve means that school or college is offering admissions on the basis of who comes for admission first. It means whosoever will reach early and pay the fee, that person will be given preference of admission.

Typically, after the application deadline of January 15th, you can expect to hear back from CU Boulder anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, but it varies from year to year. That being said, the latest you should expect to get your decision is by April 1st.
