Her boss served as an inconspicuous source of motivation, and she used all her talks with him for her first stand-up comedy performances at the comedy clubs around New York.

All of this helped Kathy become a teacher of comedy improvisation – a popular director named Bill Sherwood attended one of her classes, which led to their collaboration, as he created a special role just for her in his movie “Parting Glances”, which was released in 1986.
